Mountains have always fascinated people. Their enormous mass and majestic presence inspire respect and admiration. This slideshow-style screensaver shows a huge collection of photos of the Alps taken by Gianpaolo Bottin, the site's owner. As with almost every photo collection, some of them are good, some are average and there are a few that are not so good. Most of them fall in the second category; that is, they are photos that almost anyone could have taken. This is not necessarily a bad thing, since it fosters the identification between the author and the viewer. Another advantage is that the photos aren't retouched or photoshopped, so they look very authentic.
As for the screensaver itself, it features a control panel with which you can adapt its settings according to your taste. For example, you can set the program to show the images at random or in order, and to show or hide a digital clock with the actual hour. Also, you can set the time (in seconds) each image appears on screen, as well as the duration of the transition effects, among other things. This screensaver is truly free, in that it does not force you to install anything else or make any changes in your system.
